1. Introduction & Core Philosophy
FeisClár ("we", "our", or "the app") provides an Irish Dancing companion service enabling dancers, parents, teachers, and supporters to search feiseanna, view timetables, access official syllabus documents, and record competition milestones.
We believe deeply in protecting the privacy of the Irish dancing community, which includes children and young performers. FeisClár operates on a strict Privacy by Design principle: we do not sell personal data, we do not build tracking profiles, and we store competition scorecards locally on your personal device.
2. Information We Collect (And What We Don't)
🏆 Dancer Results & Vault Data (Stored Locally On Your Device)
All dancer placements, grades, dances entered, and competition notes stored in the Results Vault reside solely inside an encrypted SQLite database on your physical mobile device. We do not transmit, view, or store your dancer's personal name, competition numbers, or medals on our external servers.
📱 Anonymous Device Identifier (UUID)
When you install FeisClár, your device generates a random, pseudonymous UUID. This identifier allows your app to synchronize updated feis dates, syllabus links, and stage schedules offline. It is not connected to your real name, email, telephone number, or device serial number.
🌐 Diagnostic & Server Traffic Logs
When accessing live feis data or downloading syllabus documents, our web service automatically receives standard technical request data (IP address, operating system version, and timestamp). These logs are utilized exclusively to protect the service against denial-of-service abuse and are purged automatically on a rolling 30-day schedule.
3. Device Permissions & Hardware Usage
FeisClár only requests permissions that are strictly necessary for core functionality:
-
Calendar Access (
READ_CALENDAR&WRITE_CALENDAR): Used exclusively when you tap the "Add to Calendar" button on a feis event page. FeisClár uses this permission solely to create an entry for the feis dates and syllabus deadline in your native calendar. FeisClár never reads, scans, or exports your existing personal calendar events. -
Network Access (
INTERNET&ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): Used to fetch feis updates, download syllabus PDF files, and check server connectivity. -
Vibration (
VIBRATE): Used for tactile haptic feedback during metronome tempo playback and interactive buttons.
4. External Links & Feis Organizer GDPR Forms
FeisClár provides direct links to official third-party resources, including feis organizer websites, syllabus PDF files, social media event pages, and official feis organizer GDPR Consent Forms.
When you tap these links, you will navigate to external services (such as Google Forms or organizer websites) that operate under their own independent privacy notices. FeisClár is not responsible for the data collection practices of external organizer forms.
5. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)
A substantial portion of Irish dance competitors are under the age of 18. FeisClár complies fully with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and General Data Protection Regulation provisions regarding minors (GDPR-K).
Because the app does not require account registration, does not collect names or birthdates over the network, and stores dancer notes exclusively on the user's personal hardware, FeisClár does not collect personally identifiable information from children.
6. Data Deletion & Your Rights
Under GDPR and global privacy standards, you maintain absolute control over your information:
- Wiping All Local Data: You can completely erase all stored feis records, bookmarks, and results vault data at any time by going to your device's Settings → Apps → FeisClár → Clear Storage / Data, or by uninstalling the application.
- Inquiries & Assistance: If you have questions regarding data privacy or wish to request confirmation of any operational logs, you may reach out to our privacy contact at any time.
